Newcastle United will be the underdogs in tomorrow’s match against Arsenal, but the Toon will play for all three points.
Arsenal will host Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow for the final game of matchweek 32. Arsenal are currently fifth in the standings after Manchester United took back the final Champions League spot with their victory over Watford yesterday. Newcastle enter this match in 14th place after Crystal Palace leapfrogged the Magpies with a win over Huddersfield Town.
Both teams are in top form at the moment and now they have a lot to play for. Arsenal are in a heated battle for playing in the Champions League next season and Newcastle need a win to avoid relegation. Arsenal are the favorites to win this match and most pundits have predicted them to win by a margin of two goals.
What to Expect
Based on what I have read from some media outlets in London, Arsenal are expecting Newcastle to park the bus and play for a point tomorrow. The Magpies have done that in the past, but the arrival of Miguel Almiron has changed the way Newcastle play. The Toon now play attacking football and they have created an impressive 90 chances over their last five games and have scored nine goals in the process.
That being said, both sets of supporters should expect a match comprised of several chances. The Gunners will build their attack around Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. This attacking duo has scored 29 goals this season and Newcastle’s back-line must contain both players if they wish to stand a chance at the Emirates.
For Newcastle, their attacking trio of Miguel Almiron, Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez need to be at their best tomorrow. It has been a few years since the Toon Army last witnessed this much chemistry up top and Rafa Benitez can only hope his men are clinical in front of goal. Both teams have been solid defensively all season, but the Gunners and the Magpies are prone to conceding some silly goals.
Anything can happen tomorrow as both squads will display plenty of urgency. Arsenal need to win if they want to stay in contention for Champions League football and Newcastle need to win so they can start focusing on Benitez’s contract extension instead worrying about relegation.
