Newcastle United will try to get revenge for their loss against Wolverhampton tomorrow at the Molineux Stadium.

The bottom half of the Premier League table has changed once again due to results from other matches this weekend and these changes put more pressure on Newcastle United to get a result against Wolverhampton tomorrow evening. The Magpies are currently 17th in the table, level on points with 18th-placed Southampton, but a win tomorrow would see Rafa Benitez’s side jump up to 15th place.

Wolverhampton have surprised everyone in the league with their impressive run of form this season. Newly-promoted sides usually struggle in their first season in the Top Flight, but Wolves have easily solidified their place among the top ten. Tomorrow’s hosts are currently seventh in the table with 38 points.

Anything Can Happen Tomorrow

It is true that Wolverhampton are enjoying better form than Newcastle, but it would be incorrect to say that Newcastle will be underdogs tomorrow. Based on what we saw in the last meeting between these two sides, both sets of supporters should expect a close, chippy match comprised of plenty of action in the middle of the park.

Wolverhampton have torn teams apart that have chosen to play an open, all-out attacking game with them. One thing that will benefit Newcastle tomorrow is their counter-attacking style of play. Wolverhampton have dropped points to teams that defend well and execute their counter-attacks properly, which is something the Magpies are notorious for.

One thing the Toon Army will anxiously wait to find out is whether or not Miguel Almiron will start behind Salomon Rondon up top. Newcastle broke their transfer record by signing the Paraguayan star for $27million dollars and Benitez is optimistic that Almiron has what it takes to be an effective playmaker for his side. Wolverhampton’s Matt Doherty recently made statements  claiming that Almiron will be an average Top Flight player, so that personal rivalry will also be worth keeping an eye on.

Overall, tomorrow’s match is unpredictable. I would have to agree with Paul Merson in saying that this match will most likely end in a draw, but anything can happen. Wolverhampton have multiple players who can score goals and secure a victory, but if Salomon Rondon can get at the end of one or two crosses the game will belong to Newcastle.

Match Prediction: Wolverhampton 1-1 Newcastle United
