Bold prediction: Newcastle United will defeat Tottenham at Wembley Stadium this weekend.

After shocking the Premier League with an unexpected 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Tuesday evening, I firmly believe that Newcastle United will earn their second straight victory when they face Tottenham at Wembley Stadium. Some of you will call me crazy, others will think it is too good to be true, but I know a small number of you quietly agree with me.

Euphoria is a bad thing to have, especially during a relegation battle, but this prediction does make sense. There are three reasons why I believe Newcastle will show up to Wembley and will depart with three points in the bag.

Tottenham Injuries

It is never nice seeing star players go down with long-term injuries, but it is part of the game and Tottenham have been rocked by some major injuries. The most notable injuries in their squad are those of Harry Kane and Dele Alli. Kane recently injured his ankle and is expected to be sidelined for at least ten matches, and this includes the clash with Newcastle.

Another untimely injury is that of Alli, who suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham, and he is expected to be out of the team for at least six weeks. Yes, Tottenham still have plenty of talent on their roster, but taking Kane and Alli out of the equation is a big deal and serves Newcastle well.

Confidence

After back-to-back wins this month, 3-0 against Cardiff City and 2-1 against Manchester City, Newcastle are experiencing their gradual resurgence. The Magpies have every right to be confident heading into this weekend’s match as they have shown that they can handle business against inferior opponents and they can be competitive against elite teams.

Furthermore, Newcastle came close to stealing points from Chelsea on two occasions this season and almost earned a shock victory at Old Trafford. Newcastle are finally starting to correct some of their mistakes and are playing disciplined, attacking football. It is also worth mentioning that the arrival of Miguel Almiron certainly provides the Magpies with a major boost up top.

Significant Momentum

Last, but not least, Newcastle know that they could run away from this relegation battle with a win against Tottenham. You are probably thinking to yourselves, “how when there is still plenty of football left to be played?” You are correct, but let us take a look at the next few games after playing Tottenham.

Next. Transfer trio coming to Newcastle United. dark

Newcastle will face Wolverhampton on February 11th and this match will be close, but after that the Magpies play two consecutive home matches against Huddersfield and Burnley. Newcastle will be the favorites in both of those matches and six points, in addition to the three I am predicting against Tottenham, could put Newcastle at 33 points by the end of February. We shall see what happens over the next few weeks, but Newcastle have a chance to secure survival early on.
