It is being reported that Rafa Benitez is ready to walk away from Newcastle United after not receiving financial support to bring in quality players.

Multiple reports from the Telegraph, the Chronicle and Shields Gazette are claiming that sources close to Newcastle United are saying that Rafa Benitez has reached his breaking point in regard to the lack of financial support in transfer windows. The Spaniard has made it very clear to owner Mike Ashley and the club’s executive director Lee Charnley that he needs funds to improve this squad.

Benitez never asked for a war chest, but just enough money to bring in some quality players he thinks would transform the club into a regular top ten side. Instead, the Magpies have not spent a single penny in the January transfer window as the deadline approaches. As a result, Newcastle are 17th in the table, only two points clear of the drop zone.

Rafa Will Walk, Mike

Listen up, Mike. Your false promises and manipulative tactics have worked in the past, but Benitez is not bluffing this time. I credit you for investing money to bring Benitez to Newcastle a few years ago, but I also credit you for making his tenure on Tyneside a nightmare. The man is a brilliant tactician who won the La Liga with Valencia over Barcelona and Real Madrid on two occasions, won the Champions League with Liverpool and the Europa League with Chelsea.

How on earth can you justify not spending some money to bring in a few players that he placed on his transfer wish list? All he wants to do is transform Newcastle into a competitive club, but you are keeping him in a relegation battle each season. I understand that you are looking to sell the club, and I appreciate your comments about only selling to someone who seriously aims to invest in the club, but your imminent primary focus should be on Benitez.

The Toon Army has saved you several times as they are the only true reason why Benitez has stayed on Tyneside as long as he has. Enough is enough and you should really be prepared to see Benitez walk away upon the conclusion of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign. Wake up and smell the roses. Give Benitez some money, not only to improve the squad, but to keep him at Newcastle.
