The rumor mill is brewing, but how likely is it that Joselu, Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and Martin Dubravka move away from Newcastle United?
When the transfer window opens, all the attention on Tyneside turns to the players that Newcastle United should bring in to improve the squad and climb the table. However, it is also important to take a look at some of the players who could potentially move away from the club and how their departures would impact the Magpies.
At present, four of Newcastle’s regular first team players have been linked with other teams this month: Joselu, Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and Martin Dubravka. The interesting thing is that all four players have been linked with teams in different leagues across Europe and Asia, but how likely is it that these transfers will go through?
Joselu off to China?
To everyone’s surprise, Joselu has attracted the attention of Tianjin Teda, a team in the Chinese Super League. Why the Chinese club are interested in a striker who has only scored seven goals in 49 appearances for Newcastle is beyond us, but this move would be good for Newcastle. The Spaniard has failed to perform at a high level for the club and his sale could provide the Magpies with some much-needed funds to bring in new players.
Isaac Hayden: Aston Villa or West Brom
Isaac Hayden has submitted his second transfer request in as little as four months, and Championship outfits Aston Villa and West Brom have expressed interest in the defensive midfielder. Hayden is keen on leaving the club, but due to Shelvey being injured and with Ki Sung-yueng being away on international duty for a month, Benitez is unlikely to let Hayden leave the club.
Jonjo Shelvey: West Ham and Fulham
Based on our article from last week, Newcastle made it clear to West Ham and Fulham that Shelvey is not for sale. Any rumors connected to Shelvey should be ignored. Benitez needs Shelvey in top form as his side desperately battles for points in their quest for Premier League survival this season.
Martin Dubravka: Juventus
A few reports have been published stating that Juventus have expressed interest in signing the Slovakian shot stopper, but there is no chance of this move happening. Martin Dubravka has been a top ten Premier League keeper since joining the Magpies last January and he enjoys his primacy between the sticks on Tyneside. In other words, Dubravka would not leave Newcastle to play as a rotational keeper for Juventus.
