Victor Moses has gone from stud to bench warmer at Chelsea and Newcastle United should revive his career with a deal in January.

Victor Moses is one of multiple players who are looking to leave Chelsea in January after being completely ignored by Maurizio Sarri. The 28-year-old Nigerian international enjoyed his football under Sarri’s predecessor, Antonio Conte, as he made 62 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, but now Moses has been left in the dark and is largely unused by the former Napoli boss.

As a result, the winger is looking to make a move that would guarantee him regular football in a top league and Newcastle United would be a great fit. Sealing the deal for a player from a top six side will require some persuasion to join a relegation-threatened team, but his quality could significantly help the Magpies get some positive results to avoid the drop.

Analyzing Victor Moses

The Nigerian winger still has many good years of football in him and it is unfortunate that Sarri does not play him. Moses is a good playmaker and an intelligent winger who can make the difference in close matches. He does not score often – 20 goals in 220 Premier League appearances – but he finds the back of the net when his team needs him the most.

In addition to his extensive experience playing in the top tier of English football, Moses has also been a crucial player for the Nigerian national team. The Chelsea winger has starred in multiple continental and global tournaments with the African giants and this experience would provide solid veteran leadership in Newcastle’s locker room.

With Kenedy struggling to maintain the good run of form he had last season, and with Matt Ritchie failing to score goals, Moses could provide the major boost that Benitez is looking for down the flank. This move that I am proposing would benefit Newcastle and Moses, who could revive his career after being marginalized this season.

Moses would immediately become a top player for Newcastle and he could be the difference-maker when Newcastle go up against  relegation rivals in the second half of the season. Convincing him to participate in a relegation battle could be a challenge, but pitching the chance to play regular football under Rafa Benitez at St. James’ Park in front of the Toon Army could do the trick.
