Newcastle United will host West Ham tomorrow at St. James’ Park and the Magpies will look to earn their fourth consecutive victory.

It is a short week for Newcastle United after defeating Burnley 2-1 on Monday evening. The Magpies are now ready for more action as they face West Ham at St. James’ Park tomorrow. There is very little to separate the two teams on paper, but Newcastle is full of confidence and their current momentum should make them favorites to win this match.

Kick-off for this fixture is scheduled for 3:00PM and Newcastle will look to hit the ground running. West Ham are coming off a 4-0 loss against Manchester City and they will look to rebound against the Toon. This match is expected to be competitive as they are both sitting level with 12 points and are only two wins away from breaking into the top ten.

Attack-minded Newcastle

Newcastle have been playing great football over the last three weeks and the fact that they have scored two goals in consecutive matches is a good sign. Salomon Rondon is expected to get another nod as the primary striker tomorrow and he could be poised for a big game.

West Ham’s defense has improved since last term, but they are still vulnerable as they have conceded 22 goals in 13 matches, which is roughly 1.7 goals per match. So long as Matt Ritchie and Kenedy continue bombarding the penalty box with crosses, Newcastle should be in good shape to score multiple goals.

For West Ham, their success is dependent on the performances of Marko Arnautovic and Felipe Anderson. The duo has scored nine of the Hammers’ 14 goals this season, a tally which accounts for 64% of the team’s total goals.

Newcastle’s back-line must play confrontational defense and they must be aggressive against Arnautovic and Anderson in order to make a victory more likely. As mentioned earlier, there is not much to separate these teams, but Newcastle have been playing solid football on both ends of the pitch lately and this consistency should make them favorites to win again at home.
