Newcastle United will travel down to Burnley on Monday as they aim to extend their winning streak to three matches.

Finally, the international break in Europe designated for the UEFA Nations League has come to an end. Newcastle United are eager to take the field on Monday to face a mediocre opponent in Burnley, which could see Newcastle extend their winning streak to three matches.

Overall, however, both teams are just barely avoiding a spot in the relegation zone and as a result, Monday’s match should be competitive. The Magpies lack a true playmaker, but here are a few players who can make the difference for Newcastle at Turf Moor.

Salomon Rondon

After a stellar performance with two goals against Bournemouth in Newcastle’s last match, all eyes will be on Salomon Rondon to see if the striker can pick up where he left off. Burnley has one of the worst defensive units in the Premier League as they have conceded 25 goals in 12 matches.

This statistic should be ringing in Rondon’s ears as he will certainly use his strength to break into prime scoring positions in the penalty area on multiple occasions. Look for Rondon to add more goals to his record for this season on Monday.

DeAndre Yedlin

With Paul Dummett picking up an injury on international duty for Wales over the weekend, Newcastle supporters should expect to see DeAndre Yedlin pick up an extra workload down the right wing. Burnley might try to avoid Yedlin’s pace and aggression by attacking via the opposite flank, but the Clarets will struggle defensively when the American speedster goes forward for a counter-attack. Yedlin has been playing great football in recent matches and a dip in form is not expected against a vulnerable Burnley side.

Ki Sung-yueng

It would be a major surprise if Ki Sung-yueng was not named a starter for Newcastle against Burnley as the South Korean should be rewarded for his strong performances against Watford and Bournemouth. Ki’s ability to maintain possession while teammates get into position will frustrate Burnley and his ability to switch the field with accurate crosses will leave the Clarets exposed in the back. Moreover, Ki has shown that he enjoys joining the offensive party from time to time and a long-distance strike could cause problems for the unreliable Joe Hart in goal.
