Newcastle United will host Leicester City tomorrow and they will desperately seek their first victory in front of their home supporters.

Newcastle United are, unfortunately, looking like one of the worst teams in the Premier League at the moment. The only points (two) the Magpies have secured this season came from two scoreless draws against Cardiff City and Crystal Palace, both on the road. Leicester City are enjoying a decent run of form with three victories and three losses thus far this season.

Like Newcastle, Leicester City have also had their fair share of difficult matches early on, but they have handled business against most inferior opponents they faced, with their 4-2 loss to Bournemouth being the only outlier.

The match between the Magpies and the Foxes is set to kick off at 3:00 P.M. in what should be a booming St. James’ Park. Newcastle know what result they need and they will be very dependent on the support of the Toon Army throughout the match. Leicester City know how difficult it can be to win on Tyneside, but they are confident they can defeat Newcastle on the road.

Competition in Midfield

Leicester City enter this match as slight favorites to win on the road due to the quality they possess on their roster. Leicester City is not a team that will intimidate many opponents, but they are capable of scoring multiple goals on mediocre sides like Newcastle.

The good news for Newcastle is that they boast plenty of aggressive players and some superior passers that could cause problems for Leicester City. The primary competition in this match will be in midfield.

Both teams will be playing for three points tomorrow and this urgency will create intensity in the middle third of the pitch. All eyes should be on Jonjo Shelvey for Newcastle and James Maddison for Leicester City. Shelvey is the offensive coordinator for the Magpies and he will be expected to frequently send the ball forward to create as many scoring opportunities as possible.

On the other end, Maddison has proven that he did not need much time to adapt to playing in the Top Flight after playing in the Championship last season. So far in his debut season for Leicester City, Maddison has scored three crucial goals and bagged an assist.

In other news, Toon fans should be excited to see Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez continue to develop a strong partnership in the back. They will not have it easy tomorrow, but they are capable of making important tackles and interceptions. Moreover, Salomon Rondon has been ruled out for this match. Joselu or Yoshinori Muto are expected to replace the Venezuelan international.

Final Note

This match should be entertaining for both sets of supporters. Newcastle will look to make their departure from the relegation zone with a win at home, while Leicester City will try to stay in the top half of the table with a win on the road. Newcastle truly are desperate for a victory tomorrow and anything other than urgent, attacking football from the Magpies would be a major surprise.
