After joining from Manchester United for roughly three million, Obertan battled injuries for a solid chunk of his Toon career. He was a decent playmaking option when healthy and played his final season at Tyneside during the relegation-bound campaign of 2015-16.

Currently, Obertan is still playing for Levski Sofia in Bulgaria. The 29-year-old scored three goals and tallied five assists last season. He also notched an assist in Europa League qualifying. His contract runs through this season.
