Former Newcastle United defender Aaron Hughes is still shutting down strikers in the Scottish Premiership.

In another edition of our series catching up on where former Newcastle United players are now, we see what central defender Aaron Hughes has been up to since leaving Tyneside.

Newcastle United career: Came up through the youth system, played for the first team 1997-2005, 254 appearances, six goals, only nine yellow cards

Where is he now? (38 years old)

Aaron Hughes is not slowing down, despite his age. After an injury-plagued 2016-17 season that limited him to 12 matches, the central defender appeared in 23 matches this season for Heart of Midlothian. You may recall he got to play against Newcastle United in the club’s first friendly of the preseason last summer. After signing a new one-year deal with the Scottish side back in May 2017 and he will need to be deciding his playing future soon.
