The Newcastle United defender will be a target for several clubs this summer.

Strong performances will lead to interest from other clubs, a fact that will come into sharp focus as we approach the summer transfer period. Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles has been tipped for a potential move away from Tyneside before, and now another Premier League side have been added to the list.

The Mirror reported this week that Everton are prepared with a £25 million bid for the Magpies captain, as the Toffees look to reinforce their defence ahead of the 2018-19 campaign. Lascelles has previously been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham as well.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed consistent showings throughout the current term in helping to lead Newcastle to top-flight safety.

After many promising signs during the Toon’s season in the Championship, there was concern amongst some that Lascelles may struggle back in the first division.

Those worries were certainly calmed with the centre-back’s defensive skills and intelligence shining for manager Rafa Benitez’s squad.

With his overall game still progressing and possessing a wonderful touch on the ball, it is not surprising to see Lascelles becoming a desired asset.

Significant figures

Lascelles’ commitment to the North East is not questioned, as he has truly grown into the team’s ideal skipper at the moment. However, there is the possibility that these types of sums will be too much for the Newcastle board to ignore.

£25 million is a tremendous number, and owner Mike Ashley may feel that it is too good of a deal to pass on. While it may not necessarily be Everton, the interested clubs may even go beyond that rumoured fee.
