For only the third time in Premier League history, all three newly-promoted sides secure safety, with Newcastle United, Brighton, and Huddersfield Town achieving the feat.

Every year, the clubs promoted up from the Championship face an uphill climb in the Premier League. The goal isn’t to break records or play for a Europa League spot, it’s simply to avoid being relegated again. For only the third time ever in the EPL, all three promoted sides achieved safety in their first attempt.

Newcastle United, Brighton, and Huddersfield Town will all play Premier League soccer next season. The Terriers were the last team to lock in their spot when they finished level with Chelsea yesterday. One thing all three clubs have in common is a great manager. Rafa Benitez, Chris Hughton, and David Wagner have done great jobs leading their sides to safety.

The 2017-18 season has been different for each side. At the start of the campaign, Huddersfield Town and Brighton zoomed past the Magpies on the table. Now, with one match left, Newcastle United sit 10th, Brighton 14th, and Huddersfield Town 16th. The Toon scored the most goals of the three clubs and allowed the least. However, they didn’t see dominant success against their fellow promoted sides head-to-head.

As they did in the Championship last season, Newcastle United and Huddersfield split their fixtures, each winning 1-0 at home. Against Brighton, the Magpies lost in September before finishing level in December. Huddersfield Town defeating Brighton 2-0 in December, then drew with them 1-1 last month.

This summer will be vital for all three clubs. They will need to add reinforcements to make sure they don’t suffer a setback next season. The trio will be interested in some of the same players and will need to battle to get the guys they need. With Wolves and Cardiff City en route to the EPL, the competition next season will be just as fierce as this year.
