2) Jack Colback – Nottingham Forest

Not many players have had the unique distinction of being with both Newcastle United and Sunderland during their careers, the type of switch that can make toxicity a daily routine. But Jack Colback seemed like a different case at first glance, then everything just fell apart.

The 28-year-old made zero appearances for the Toon this season, and was loaned to Nottingham Forest in January.

The midfielder has played well since, and could be set to make the move permanent in the summer. Surely, a return to Rafa Benitez’s squad seems impossible.

Able to play as a left-back also, Colback can provide a team with versatility in the line-up.

However, inconsistency was a constant worry recently with Newcastle and that flaw can be devastating for a side aiming to remain in the top flight.

So where does Colback go from here? Forest are an obvious option, and manager Aitor Karanka has praised his work ethic since signing with the club. The trouble comes from his current wages, and it will be difficult to find the right match for him with that contract.

Jack Colback and Newcastle United need to go their separate ways. With all of the money that is involved, the two sides might need to get creative to help make that a reality.
