With Newcastle United set to face Burnley on Monday night, here’s a look at how their matchups have gone previously.

Before they battle Monday evening in Premier League action, let’s revisit the past results between Newcastle United and Burnley. In all competitions, the clubs have played each other 101 times. Both teams have 41 victories over the other, with 19 draws between them.

The longest winning streak for either club belongs to Newcastle United with five straight victories. They’ve done so twice, from 1929 to 1935 and 1954 to 1955. The largest margin of victory was six, coming in a 7-1 Newcastle United win back in 1951.

In their two most recent fixtures, both coming in Premier League play, the clubs finished level. With Burnley hosting in December of 2014, the scoreline ended 1-1. Papiss Cisse scored the lone goal for Newcastle. Then, a month later, it was a 3-3 draw at St. James’ Park. Steven Taylor, Jack Colback, and Moussa Sissoko tallied for the Magpies.

Each side has been relegated in the past few seasons, with Burnley heading down after the 2014/15 campaign and Newcastle United swapping leagues with them for the 2016/17 season. Newcastle finished four spots ahead of Burnley during that doomed 14/15 season for the Clarets.

The clubs will meet at Turf Moor on Monday, which has not been an easy place for Newcastle United to secure points. They haven’t won a match there in their last four attempts. The last victory at Turf Moor for Newcastle United came back in 1975. Current Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez was only 15 years old in that year.
