Keep the faith, Toon Army… Keep the faith.

With the Magpies currently in a slump (in a vital part of the season), it almost seems as though Newcastle United have lost the title. Or have they?

Of course, it seems as though chances are slim to win the title now.  But, with a current wave of luck, Brighton have lost to Norwich City 2-0 and Huddersfield received a 4-1 wallop from Fulham, it looks like there still is a title light at the end of the tunnel.

If Brighton lose their remaining matches and Newcastle win their remaining fixtures, United could finish the table with 94 points and Brighton with their current 92 points.  That would be tasty, wouldn’t it?  Keep the faith, Toon Army, keep the faith.

Remember, Huddersfield Town have a game in hand, so if they win their remaining fixtures and Newcastle do not, the Magpies could end up in a playoff fiasco.  I don’t foresee this happening, but as Kevin Keegan once said, “football, it’s a funny ol’ game”.

With this all said, Newcastle could continue their bad form, Brighton could lose all their remaining fixtures, and Reading could win their final matches and end at 89 points, ahead of Newcastle, while Brighton wins the league.  This is tough to swallow.

The light is still present for the Toon Army, but it is a mild glow.  We must all hope, pray, cheer, and continue to trust in our team and beloved gaffer.  Rafa Benitez has been a Godsend to us in a drastic relegation and current season in one of the world’s toughest leagues.  Do you think we can do it?

With this short analytical, yet theoretical synopsis, I cannot emphasize any positivity anymore.  We fans have had a tough and battled season. This is a crazy and unpredictable league.  So in essence, this article really means nothing.

Stay positive, and sing your hearts out at any remaining match you may attend for the rest of the season.  Can Newcastle win the title? We hope so.  It is possible, and for that we must not give up.
