The best winter signing in recent years is Jonjo Shelvey. Despite being suspended for the next few games due to a racial spat earlier in the season, Shelvey has been crucial to Newcastle United’s creative offense and is a large reason as to why they’re where they are right now.
We’ve gotten an even closer look at how important Jonjo Shelvey has been to the club as Newcastle is currently struggling without Shelvey. Looking back, Jonjo Shelvey has improved significantly under Rafa Benitez’s system. Of all the transfers made last season under Steve McClaren, Shelvey has definitely made a lasting impact.
