Newcastle United travel to Preston North-End for their next league fixture on Saturday.

The Magpies battered a 10 men North-End on Tuesday in the EFL Cup after Alan Browne was sent off in the first half.

From then on it was plain sailing for Rafa Benitez’s side as United put six past former Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard.

Serbian striker and firm fan favourite Aleksandar Mitrovic hit two and could have had more if two second half headers were better directed.

Mohamed Diame also scored his first goals in a black and white jersey while Ayoze Perez got his sixth for the season and Matt Ritchie converted a penalty.

There will be plenty for Benitez to ponder as he thinks through his team selection for the weekend’s game.

So scroll down and click through the slides to see what Newcastle Toon’s predicts will be the starting XI. The formation is 4-2-3-1.

GK /// Karl Darlow

As is customary now, Newcastle United changed their goalkeepers around for their EFL Cup clash against Preston North-End on Tuesday.

Belgian Matz Sels came into the side and did well, although the stopper hardly had a save to make throughout the game.

But Karl Darlow is expected to fit back into the role that he ousted Sels from after the former Gent man got the nod from Benitez at the start of the season.

Both men have added incentive to play well as Rob Elliot will come back into contention shortly after recovering from injury.
