How did Newcastle United’s new guys do?

Dwight Gayle

All I can really say about Dwight Gayle’s performance against Fulham can be summed up in one word:

meh.

The physicality wasn’t there, and neither was the speed. The opportunities opened up by fellow debutant Matt Ritchie were never capitalized on. Dwight Gayle was given the no.9 shirt right before the season began. Not every night is going to be a showcase of talent and skill, but Fulham should have been the grand event for Gayle to prove himself right off the bat.

Dwight Gayle did not exert himself as much as he should have and was one of the biggest disappointments for me.
