Ah. Should have checked that old English to German dictionary, chaps. While Sunderland fans were busy giggling with delight, and Newcastle United supporters downing pints in a rage, this one eagle eyed fellow was fact checking.

Auf wiedersehen actually means see you again, so in the context of the day it was actually incredibly sporting of the Black Cats fans.

Of course, it wasn’t meant to read that way – but Magpies fans can take some comfort in the fact that their biggest rivals couldn’t even get this one right.
