Daniel Schwaab

The 27-year-old VfB Stuttgart defender is available on a free transfer at the end of the season, and could replace either Fabricio Coloccini or Steven Taylor.

Despite his age, Daniel Schwaab has already featured over 200 times in his professional career for FC Freiburg, Bayer Leverkusen and his current side.

Caps at U18, U19 and U21 level for Germany show he is a solid, if unspectacular, defender. But maybe that’s exactly what Newcastle United.
