Vurnon Anita gave a man of the match performance as Newcastle drew with Manchester City on Tuesday.
The Citizens took the lead through Sergio Aguero, who was miles offside was the ball was played into the box, before Anita grabbed the equaliser.
Standing in at right back for Daryl Janmaat, the Dutchman cut infield at the edge of the City area and curled the ball past Joe Hart and into the far corner of the net.
It was a beautiful goal, and only Anita’s third for the club since he joined from Ajax in 2012. The Magpies grew in confidence after that, and could have won the game late on – but Georginio Wijnaldum was denied by Hart.
The Magpies are still second bottom in the league, but are only two points off Norwich City in fourth bottom – and one away from Sunderland.
Despite playing Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the season, the Toon Army now has the belief that they can defy the odds and stay in the Premier League.
