8: Florian Thauvin

Florian Thauvin was supposed to signal in a new era at Newcastle United, but Graham Carr’s golden boy failed to set the world alight.

There were misgivings before the Magpies signed Thauvin, but Carr and Steve McClaren pressed on regardless and were not rewarded with their faith.

After only 13 appearances and 420 minutes in half a season, they sent the French winger out on loan to Marseille.
