1: Georginio Wijnaldum

Dutch dynamo Georginio Wijnaldum was signed from Eredivisie winner side PSV Eindhoven, and got Newcastle United fans very excited.

He has been the best signing of the ill fated Steve McClaren era, topping the scoring charts with nine goals and grabbing four assists.

Wijnaldum has been a big part of whatever good things the Magpies have created going forward – although one black spot on his record is his inability to have much influence away from home.

Transfer rating: 10/10
