Jack Colback

Even though Jack Colback was born in Killingworth, just a few miles away from Newcastle, he came through the Sunderland academy.

After making 135 appearances for the Black Cats, scoring five goals and assisting seven, he moved to the Magpies on a free transfer – something that sparked a controversy.

The Wearside club issued a club letter saying how disappointed they were with Colback and his decision to jump ship, while owner Mike Ashley nearly sold him straight away for a £5m profit.
