Newcastle United lost to Leicester City on Monday night at the King Power Stadium thanks to a goal from Shinji Okazaki.

It was new manager Rafa Benitez’s first game in charge, and there were a lot of positives from the Magpies – however they lacked cutting edge again.

There were a whole host of chances missed, from Ayoze Perez to Moussa Sissoko, and Benitez will have been kicking himself in frustration at the whole affair.

The Foxes threatened on the break, but the Newcastle back four were largely solid, with Steven Taylor and Jamaal Lascelles dropping deeper to ensure they didn’t get caught on the counter.

Andros Townsend also made an appearance after some time spent on the treatment table, and his performance will encourage the Toon Army ahead of the derby on Sunday.
