Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given thinks the club will survive relegation.

Speaking before the Magpies take on Stoke City on Wednesday in the league, Given was reported by the Chronicle as saying: “It isn’t a nice situation for them to be in, but I do really think that they will get out of it.

“I would expect them to push on again next season given the talent they have in the dressing room,” concluded the ‘keeper.
