Newcastle United have had an indifferent history in the loan transfer market over the years.

With blunders going back through the years, temporary signings have rarely helped the Magpies to kick on.

Head coach Steve McClaren signed Seydou Doumbia in order to provide the goals to save the side from relegation – but he arrived with little match fitness.

As a result he hasn’t been able to have the impact Toon chiefs wanted, although Doumbia could yet start against Stoke City on March 2nd.
