Steve Howey

Despite being born in Sunderland, Steve Howey was signed by the Newcastle United academy and made nearly 200 appearances for the Tyneside club.

After joining as a striker, Ossie Ardiles converted the player to defence – where he excelled. Despite being missing often with injury, Howey was a first choice player for Kevin Keegan’s entertainers.

After leaving the Toon, the four-times capped England international played for Manchester City, Leicester City, Bolton Wanderers, New England Revolution and Hartlepool Town.
