Jackie Milburn

Jack Milburn was born in the mining town of Ashington in Northumberland, and made 353 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 177 times.

After leaving the Magpies, Milburn signed for Linfield and hit 68 goals in 54 games.

Wor Jackie was the first footballer to be made Freeman of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, and died of lung cancer aged only 64 in October 1988.
