Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll was going to be the next big thing on Tyneside, and then all of a sudden he was gone.

After bursting onto the scene during the Magpies’ year in the Championship, Carroll helped himself to 17 goals in 39 appearances as they bounced back to the top flight on the first time of asking.

The Geordie then hit 11 goals in 19 appearances before Liverpool signed him for £35m on January deadline day in 2011.

Carroll has been plagued by injuries, and moved to West Ham United in 2012 – for whom he has made 65 appearances and scored 18 goals.
