Newcastle United have been training at the Spanish base of La Manga during their break from fixtures.

Head coach Steve McClaren said he will put the players through double sessions in order to prepare them for their Stoke City fixture.

The Magpies’ away form has been awful this season, and McClaren must find a way to put things right if he is to steer them away from the relegation zone.

It will not be good enough to just perform well at St. James Park, and part of these double training sessions must be devoted to finding a tactical shape that will work from them away from home.

New singings Andros Townsend, Jonjo Shelvey, Henri Saivet and Seydou Doumbia will also benefit from the time spent with their new teammates.
