Titus Bramble

Titus Bramble was once marked as the next English defender off the production line, and Sir Bobby Robson parted with £6m to sign him from Ipswich Town.

He quickly made himself an important part of Robson’s team, but was actually voted as the worst player of the year by readers of The Fiver. Despite playing over 100 times for the Magpies, the defender moved on to Wigan Athletic on a free deal – playing 96 times over a three year period.

In 2010, Bramble moved to Sunderland – the second former Toon starlet to move to the Stadium of Light on this list. After 47 games, he was released, and was last seen coaching with Ipswich.
