Michael Chopra

Michael Chopra was once the great hope for Newcastle United. Fans thought he might be the new Alan Shearer, while staff believed he could have a real impact in the black and white.

After being handed his Toon debut during their 3-1 defeat to Barcelona, Chopra made 20 more appearances for the Tyneside club – scoring his only league goal after coming on as a substitute against Sunderland.

It wasn’t enough to keep him at the club, though, and after spells at the Black Cats, Cardiff City, Ipswich Town, Blackpool and Kerala Blasters, he is now playing for Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Championship.
