Dan Gosling

Dan Gosling signed for Newcastle United from Everton on a free transfer after his Toffees deal ran out.

Despite playing 22 times for the Merseyside team, his contract extension floundered due to his wage demands and the Magpies swooped for Gosling – who was a bright prospect at the time.

He arrived with a knee injury, and never got going at the club, mainly due to the first team pairing of Cheick Tiote and Yohan Cabaye. The midfielder did end up playing 24 games for Newcastle, before leaving on loan to Blackpool and then permanently to Bournemouth.

Transfer rating: 3/10
