Stephen Ireland

Stephen Ireland was another horrendous signing in the early days of Alan Pardew’s career. The former Manchester City man joined on loan from Aston Villa, but only played 49 minutes of football before he was sent back to Villa.

The biggest mark he left on Tyneside was in the bars – Ireland was involved in an incident in which himself and Leon Best were pictured topless in a Newcastle nightclub in the early hours of the morning.

Now at Stoke City, the Irish international has started 48 Premier League games since 2013.
