Danny Simpson

Danny Simpson initially joined Newcastle United on loan when they were in the Championship, but the club made the move permanent the following season under Alan Pardew.

After joining for a fee of around £750,000 and signing a three-and-a-half year deal, Simpson played over 100 games before departing for Queens Park Rangers.

The club let his contract expire, and they replaced Simpson with Frenchman Mathieu Debuchy who was undoubtedly an upgrade.

Transfer rating: 5/10
