Sol Campbell

Sol Campbell signed for Newcastle United after turning down a two-year contract offer by Celtic, and made his first appearance in the League Cup against Chelsea.

Campbell made his Premier League debut against Manchester City, and became the only other player after Ryan Giggs to play in all 19 seasons of the Premier League.

The former Arsenal defender was even handed the captain’s armband for their league game against the Blues, but found his first team chances limited after illness and the return of Fabricio Coloccini.

After playing seven games in the season, Alan Pardew decided not to renew his contract.
