Charlie Austin

Charlie Austin has been a target for Newcastle United so long now it’s not even funny.

Queens Park Rangers have held firm over the transfer of their star player, but director of football Les Ferdinand’s soundbytes have been encouraging for the Magpies.

“Every player has his price. I wouldn’t want to sit here and say Charlie is definitely staying,” the London Evening Standard reported he said.

The Magpies would snap their hand off for a proven finisher at a cut-price in January, and Austin fits the bill.
