Papiss Cisse is struggling

Striker Papiss Cisse was removed from the action during the first half of Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa, and head coach Steve McClaren confirmed he would be out for the weekend.

“We’re assessing Papiss Cisse as to the severity of his injury, but he’s a struggle and a doubt for the weekend,” he said.

After pulling up while chasing a ball, Cisse was immediately withdrawn and Aleksandar Mitrovic sent on in his place. The injury comes at the worst time for the striker, who was enjoying a run of games in the first team.
