Joel Matip

Joel Matip has been linked with a Newcastle United since the summer, and it’s not unrealistic to think that the Magpies could make a move for the Schalke defender.

With only six months left on his contract, and with Champions League experience, Matip would be a valuable addition to the squad – and could potentially ease Fabricio Coloccini out of his starting place.

The Cameroon defender has played  times for the Bundesliga side this season, but they may be powerless to stop him leaving for free in the summer or for a cut price in January.
