Five things we learned from McCLaren’s press conference
3. The Magpies’ know they have to keep their energy up
Although the victory on Sunday against Liverpool was excellent, it won’t be enough to placate fans or to build any major confidence.
Certainly among the players, there is no great sense of confidence – that will only come if they put together a string of good performances.
Should they do that, the fans will get behind their side more, too, and will do their bit to boost the players.
Steve McClaren was reported as saying: “We need to follow Liverpool up at White Hart Lane. We need to put in a performance if we are to get anything.
“Spurs are a good team, they have a good squad of players and they play with a very high intensity.”
