Centerback: Fabricio Coloccini

If Philippe Albert is the first-choice centerback for this Newcastle United side, then Fabricio Coloccini is a close second. Jonathan Woodgate is also a popular choice for this role but given that he made only 28 appearances it would be hard to justify that selection. Woodgate may have been more talented than Fabricio, but the Argentine wins on longevity.

Coloccini joined Newcastle in 2008 for £10.3 million and was in the side that was relegated from the Premier League. He was an instrumental figure however in the Championship-winning side that saw them earn promotion and has helped the Magpies stay in the Premier League ever since.

The Argentine defender has made nearly 250 appearances and counting for Newcastle and will add to that impressive total for at least one more season after signing a contract extension through 2016-17. The 33-year-old has also made 39 appearances for Argentina and was included in the PFA Team of the Year in 2011-12.
