Newcastle United have managed to strengthen their squad significantly in recent months by bringing in Dan Burn, Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood, as well as Matt Targett on loan from Aston Villa. And one would expect the club to keep on adding to their ranks when the summer transfer window opens, as their next target must be challenging for a Champions League spot.

Thus, do not be surprised to see more new players arrive at St James’ Park over the course of the next few months. But at the same time, some of the players returning from loan will be like new signings as well.

One such player that a lot of Newcastle United fans will have their eyes on is Elliot Anderson, who has impressed immensely while on loan at Bristol Rovers this season. And it is not just the supporters that he has managed to catch the eyes of, but some of the players as well.

As reported by HITC, while speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson said:

"“So, in terms of playoffs and things like that, last weekend, Bristol Rovers had to win 7-0 to go up, Northampton were almost celebrating at the end of the game, not knowing what happened, almost thinking Bristol haven’t won 7-0 in god knows how many years. What happened? They won 7-0. The scenes were incredible. Scunthorpe played their kids and Northampton will have been fuming at that. We have a youngster on loan there, Elliot Anderson, he scored the seventh goal and he’s an unbelievable player.”"

Anderson did a spectacular job while away on loan at Bristol Rovers. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists in 21 appearances for the club.

Of course, it is unlikely that he would return and make an immediate impact in the first team at Newcastle United. Although, he was brilliant for Bristol Rovers, one also has to remember that it was at the League Two level. But at the same time, it does feel like he could have a big future at the club if he can keep on progressing like he has till now.

Let’s see how things turn out for Anderson. Another loan move away from St James’ Park might possibly be the best step forward for him at this stage of his career.
