Open letters became a bit of a joke at Newcastle United under Steve McClaren.

Now new manager Rafa Benitez has got involved in the action, sending one to the Toon Army before their crunch clash against Sunderland.

In it, he wrote: “You (the fans) can make the crucial difference for us. Let’s create a wall of sound and a tide of black and white.”
