It is vitally important that Newcastle United beat Stoke City on Wednesday, said Steve McClaren.

The Magpies head coach couldn’t have been clearer as he spoke of the need to grab three points during their mid-week clash, and was reported on Twitter as saying: “This is huge to make sure we stay in this league.

“Stoke will be very difficult. They have very good players and a very good team.”
