Newcastle United are desperate to claim their first victory of the season against Brighton at St. James’ Park tomorrow.

Finally, football has returned on Tyneside. It has only been a few weeks, but Newcastle United are eager to get back on the field with the hopes of turning their season around. Newcastle are looking to hit the reset button after their horrible start to the 2018-19 Premier League campaign and tomorrow’s match presents a great opportunity to get the ball rolling with three points.

Brighton, on the other hand, are looking to build on their decent form and not fall prey to the pressure of being Newcastle’s first victim of the season. With a performance record of two wins, two draws and four losses, Brighton will not be an easy opponent and both sets of supporters can expect a competitive match.

The clash between the Magpies and Seagulls is set to kick off at 3:00 P.M. at St. James’ Park. A draw would be a fantastic result for Brighton on the road in a hostile environment, but anything less than a victory will be worrisome and disappointing for Newcastle.

Newcastle Will Attack

In order for Newcastle to win tomorrow they must play attacking football. Despite losing their last match to Manchester United, the Magpies looked like a dangerous team offensively as they scored two quick goals and created 13 scoring chances. Brighton should not be undermined as an opponent, but Newcastle must take more risks on offense than they usually do.

Brighton do not have a stable back-line, especially when they play on the road. The Seagulls have conceded 13 goals in eight matches and this statistic should bode well for Newcastle’s front-line. Most supporters expect Rafa Benitez to give Yoshinori Muto his second consecutive start of the season and the Japanese international striker could solidify his role as a starter with another top performance.

Sticking to the topic of offensive efficiency, Newcastle must be wary of Glenn Murray at all times. Murray has already scored five goals this season and he could cause problems for Newcastle’s back-line if the marking in the penalty area is not tight.

Next. Newcastle should be confident against Brighton. dark

Final Note

This will be a competitive match for both teams, but Newcastle must prove to doubters that they are not destined for a drop to the Championship. The best way to silence the critics is by defeating Brighton at home. Benitez has repeatedly stated that his side will not be relegated. A win tomorrow could generate new confidence to start a streak of positive results, which would also make the takeover of the club more likely.
