Newcastle United lost to Everton in the Barclays Premier League on Wednesday night.

Thanks to a first half goal from Aaron Lennon and two late penalties by Ross Barkley, the Toffies beat the Magpies once again to heap the misery on the St. James’ Park club.

The loss leaves the Tynesiders in the relegation zone, and with a vital game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday that is now must win.

New signing Andros Townsend made his debut, and played 90 minutes, while Seydou Doumbia didn’t get on the pitch as head coach Steve McClaren used all his substitutes after 55 minutes.

After the match, the BBC reported the former Derby County manager said: “We can’t play like that in front of 52,000 fans on Saturday, we need a reaction, we have to do better than that.”
