Newcastle United completed the transfer of AS Roma striker Seydou Doumbia on loan until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old joined from the Serie A side after failing to find his feet in Italy, and head coach Steve McClaren will hope the Ivorian is the man to provide much needed goals.

With Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez failing to shoulder the goalscoring burden, McClaren has had to turn to the transfer market during January – and while the club were linked with West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino for much of the window, it is Doumbia that arrived on Tyneside.
